Didyma

Location south of Izmir, West Turkey, near the old Miletus. The site dates back to the 2. Millenium BC. Later it "became" one of the biggest Apollo Temples in the Antiquiti. Alexander the Great donated funds for an enlargement and reinstalled the original Apollo statue stolen by the Persians. But the Temple was never finished. The columns are c 2 meter in diameter and are c 15 meter tall. A long procession road connects Miletus with Didyma.
